YoungTEC is celebrating its most successful year to date, with this week marking the completion of the inaugural
Leadership Day, and the largest registered number of YoungTEC Summit attendees.
YoungTEC’s chair Nicole Botting says the Executive have worked hard to increase membership numbers and this has seen a
positive increase in the number of Professional Development Programme participants, YoungTEC Awards submissions and
YoungTEC Executive nominations this year.
“Our membership base is highly engaged and it’s exciting to see so many young people take a step up and lead on YoungTEC
initiatives, while also developing their own professional skills”.
“We are incredibly thankful to our sponsors and supporters. The great work we have achieved this year would not have
been possible without the support of the Tourism Export Council, New Zealand School of Tourism, and the huge number of
industry leaders who offer up their own time to mentor members or speak at our events”.
The 2018/19 seasons sees a number of changes to the YoungTEC Executive, announced today at the annual AGM. The new
Executive consists of: Kate Baxter (Heli Glenorchy), Zac Watson (Haka Tours), Dannielle Tahu (Pan Pacific Travel), Lilly
Douglas (Tourism New Zealand), Lauren Campbell (KiwiRail) Shayne Forrest (Hobbiton), and Nicole Botting
(ChristchurchNZ).
Tourism Export Council Chief Executive Judy Chen says it’s great to see so many members submitting for the annual Rising
Star and Excellence Awards, and being nominated for the Executive.
“We are excited to see the skills this new Executive can bring to YoungTEC and look forward to another year of record
breaking results. The much-anticipated winners of the Awards will be announced at the Tourism Export Council Symposium
tomorrow”.
YoungTEC now takes a break for the peak of summer and will be back again in February 2019.
