A Win For Urban Development

Published: Sun 25 Nov 2018 11:09 AM
The New Housing and Urban Development Authority announced today will help to ease the urban housing crisis.
"This new model will speed up the decision making process on new developments. This is something that has been desperately needed for a long time," says Connal Townsend, Property Council CEO.
"Our members are pleased that the approach of the new Authority will be to look at the big picture of a development. This way residential and commercial developments can more easily be provided with sensible transport links and other infrastructure which ensures communities are well planned, pleasant places to live and work."
"Overseas, Urban Development Authorities like this one have worked very well to speed up the development of housing and infrastructure. Property Council has been calling for this for a long time, and we are very pleased to see the Authority being established."
"This Authority, while no magic bullet, is another of the steps needed to ease the pressure on our industry."
"We look forward to the new Authority working closely with the property industry, as we all work towards making New Zealand a better place to live."
