healthAlliance has received a judges' commendation for its Northern Region DHB Cyber Safety Campaign at the 2018 iSANZ
Awards, New Zealand's annual showcase of excellence in Information Security.
The Auckland-based shared service agency was one of three finalists in the Best Security Awareness Campaign category at
the awards, presented at a gala dinner at Te Papa in Wellington recently.
The commendation stems from healthAlliance’s lead role in an education campaign to help keep staff, patients, and
information at the four Northern region district health boards (DHBs) safe from cyber-attack.
healthAlliance Chief Information Security Officer Richard Harrison says he and his team are extremely proud of the
industry recognition:
“We’re honoured to be acknowledged for our work on behalf of the Northern region DHBs. We work really hard to keep every
one of our 26,000 customers and their patients safe online, so this commendation is a welcome and timely reward for all
the effort and commitment that our people put in every day.”
The Northern Region Cyber Safety Campaign involved a series of awareness initiatives targeting healthcare workers and management at Auckland, Counties Manukau,
Waitemata and Northland DHBs.
The campaign included bespoke online training for hospital executives and frontline clinicians, the implementation of a
new ‘scam’ button to help staff identify and self-report phishing emails with a single click, and a large-scale
cyber-attack simulation exercise involving all four DHBs, the first of its kind in the Northern region.
Judges for this year’s iSANZ Awards include Internet New Zealand Chief Executive Jordan Carter, GCSB Acting Director for
Information Assurance and Cyber Security Sam Sargeant, and University of Waikato Head of Cyber Security Lab Professor
Ryan Ko.
