Wellington Chamber Celebrates Sir John Anderson's Life

Published: Thu 15 Nov 2018 09:39 AM
The Wellington Chamber of Commerce acknowledges Sir John Anderson’s life of service following his passing, aged 73, yesterday.
"Sir John was a great servant for Wellington, leading many major organisations here, including Capital & Coast DHB, the Wellington Regional Strategy Committee, and ANZ Bank following its merger with the National Bank," says Chief Executive John Milford.
"Sir John’s contribution to the business sector in Wellington is almost unparalleled. He led the banking industry here for decades in his roles at Southpac, the National Bank, and then after the creation of ANZ National Bank in 2003.
"His business success brought many deserved accolades, including the Wellington Gold Award for business in 2006.
"Wellington was lucky to benefit from his skillful leadership, amazing vision, and proud parochialism.
"As a keen cricket fan I particularly admired his governance of the Basin Reserve Trust, maintaining the Basin’s reputation as one of the world’s best cricket grounds.
"Our thoughts are with his family as they mourn their loss, and the city’s loss."
