These are New Zealand’s best broadband providers
Last night saw more than 200 senior-level professionals from the New Zealand Internet and Communications Technology
sector come together at the Broadband Compare TUANZ Awards to celebrate the best of the best in the broadband sector.
The awards were held by Broadband Compare, New Zealandís leading broadband comparison website, together with TUANZ, the independent membership group representing users of digital connectivity. The ceremony saw Network For Learning,
the specialist education sector broadband provider, and Slingshot walk away as the big winners.
The awards recognize excellence in ten different categories across the broadband sector including NZ Wholesaler of the
Year, Best Fibre Broadband Provider, Best Bundled Plan, Best Customer Support, Best Service Provider under 10,000
customers, Best Rural Service Provider, Best Broadband Innovation and Best Specialist Broadband Provider.
More than twenty different internet providers made up the finalists across the various categories and saw a range of
winners from big established players like Slingshot, Stuff Fibre and 2degrees to the smaller regional focussed providers
like NOW, Primo Wireless and megaTEL.
Commenting after the winners were announced, Gavin Male, founder and CEO for Broadband Compare enthused "The second year
of the Broadband Compare TUANZ Awards have been a huge success. We were delighted by the quality of entries and number
of brands that participated in this yearís award and our judges had a tough task selecting a winner for each category.
It was fantastic to see so many people from the Internet and Communications sector come together to celebrate excellence
in their sector."
"The broad range of entries and winners this year represent what Broadband Compare and TUANZ advocate for - high quality
connectivity across New Zealand at fair, competitive prices. These companies exemplify those qualities and should be
commended for their achievements. There are a wealth of different options out there for consumers and businesses."
The broad range of providers that entered the awards reflect the changing landscape in New Zealandís Internet and
Communications Technology sector.
Male says, "As New Zealand matures we are seeing better connectivity, greater diversity of products and an increase in
competition across the market which gives Kiwis far more choice and possibilities than ever before. We urge everyone to
take a few minutes to check their current broadband plan to ensure they are making the most of innovations in technology
and great savings. There are lots of great new options out there that consumers may not be aware of."
Male continues "We would like to thank all of our sponsors and entrants, and congratulations again to all of the
category winners. We are already looking forward to next year where the awards will be back event bigger and better."
