Seequent opens US office; appoints key Civil & Environmental talent to support infrastructure projects

Growing demand for Leapfrog Works for infrastructure projects in US Civil & Environmental sector sees Seequent open Colorado office

CHRISTCHURCH, NZ and DENVER, COL. – November 6, 2018 - Seequent, a world leader in visual data science software, today announced the opening of an office in Denver, Colorado, to support its growing client base in the USA. Seequent’s increased commitment to the US market, which includes the appointment of key staff, follows the rapid growth of the company’s Civil & Environmental division since its February release ofLeapfrog® Works 3D geological modelling software.

“The United States has one of the largest infrastructure industries in the world,” says Daniel Wallace, General Manager of Civil & Environmental at Seequent. “There is a significant amount of infrastructure to be built, rebuilt and maintained. We have opened an office in Denver and have a local team on board to help support projects and show our commitment to this market.”

Seequent is known worldwide for its Leapfrog 3D geological modelling solutions for the civil engineering, environmental, geothermal energy and mining industries, as well as other visualisation and collaboration technologies. These solutions enable geologists, engineers, and executives alike to create rich stories and uncover valuable insights from geological data, and ultimately make better decisions about their earth, environment and energy challenges.
In 2017 the American Association of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Infrastructure Report Card American Infrastructure scored a D+. The report includes grades for airports, bridges, dams, roads and railways, and is released every four years.

“There are real infrastructure challenges in the US. Aging infrastructure is something the civil engineering industry has been tasked with, and our solutions can help through digital innovation,” says Wallace. “A big challenge has been connecting underlying geology to engineering design.”

To address this gap, Seequent developed Leapfrog Works, specifically designed to improve understanding, visualisation and communication of subsurface conditions and the interaction with infrastructure.

“Standard deliverables such as cross sections can now be delivered digitally, and dynamically updated, enabling experts to use their time to analyse data and interpret it instead of developing laborious paper-based iterations.”
Leapfrog Works is improving collaboration between a wide range of stakeholders including geotechnical engineers, geologists, civil engineers, project teams, and others to help them to make better decisions for the overall benefit of infrastructure projects.

To better support US-based users and further accelerate market activity, Seequent have appointed three geological engineers dedicated to the region. The office is expected to grow with the addition of specialists from other industries soon.

Leapfrog products support client projects in over 90 countries. Recent examples include a tunnelling project in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest transport infrastructure project; a groundwater project in Bentiu, South Sudan; and a gold mining exploration project in Nevada, USA.

Seequent’s global headquarters are in Christchurch, New Zealand and it has a network of 14 offices around the world spanning Australia, Canada, New Zealand, America, the United Kingdom, Russia and South Africa.
