‘Bird Mask’ now available to buy

Off the back of some seriously positive chirping, Air New Zealand and material innovation brand Allbirds have made their collaboratively designed eye mask, dubbed the ‘Bird Mask’, available to purchase online and at selected Nordstrom stores in the United States.

From today, fans of the Bird Mask can purchase their very own mask through the Allbirds online store, the Air New Zealand Airpoints™ Storeand Air New Zealand merchandise store, and at Nordstrom stores in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The Bird Mask was introduced exclusively in Air New Zealand’s Business Premier cabin on selected North American routes last month, including the airline’s daily NZ1/2 service between Los Angeles and London.

Like Allbirds’ sustainable footwear, the Bird Mask is made from sustainable, ZQ-certified New Zealand merino wool and castor bean oil-based foam, designed to bring added comfort to the inflight experience. The reusable mask includes moulded eye indentations to allow for natural eye movement and a birdlike beak, which helps seal the mask against the face to completely block out light.

Air New Zealand Chief Marketing & Customer Officer Mike Tod says the airline’s received a terrific response from customers who have tried the Bird Mask inflight.

“We’ve also received dozens of requests from people about where they can buy the mask, so we’re delighted to be able to now offer the innovative Bird Mask for purchase. It’s particularly exciting to have New Zealand on the world stage with the Bird Mask available to buy at popular US retailer Nordstrom in several of the cities we fly to in North America, as well as New York.”

Co-founder and co-CEO of Allbirds Tim Brown says; "Collaborating with Air New Zealand has been a wonderful experience, and we're proud of the product our two brands came together to develop. Air New Zealand's dedication to passenger experience and Allbirds' focus on superior comfort and design made for a fantastic partnership and a great new product for our customers. The response to the Bird Mask has been terrific, and we're excited to make it widely available just in time for the holidays."
