Pay equity milestone confirmed: PSA
After a series of nationwide meetings held by the PSA this month, the historical pay equity settlement put forward to social workers at Oranga Tamariki has now been ratified to go ahead.
“This signifies a wonderful start to moving the whole profession of social work into the light across all sectors,” says Kerry Davies, PSA acting national secretary.
“The movement in pay levels is a recognition of historic undervaluation and – as observed last month by Minister of Children Tracey Martin – we agree it represents a true milestone for the process and progress of future pay equity claims”.
