Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the world's leading cyber security company, today announced enhancements to its IT
Management Suite (ITMS), including real-time endpoint management capabilities and powerful integrations with Symantec
Endpoint Protection (SEP) and Control Compliance Suite to offer additional protection from threats and critical
vulnerabilities. ITMS 8.5 provides customers with the flexibility and versatility they need to manage and control their
endpoints in the cloud generation.
According to research from ESG, IT operations teams are increasingly involved in the procurement and management of cyber
security tools. This brings headaches, challenges and obstacles for IT operations and the business at large, adding the
difficult and time-consuming tasks of remediating vulnerabilities and patching endpoints.
ITMS 8.5 provides IT operations teams with the real-time endpoint management, automation and flexibility to further
simplify operations and enhance effectiveness. ITMS 8.5 manages, patches and remediates endpoints and OS configurations
for desktops, laptops and servers throughout their entire lifecycle. Additionally, it manages endpoints outside the
perimeter, allowing employees to remain protected when working remotely.
“A well-managed endpoint is a secure endpoint and that philosophy is what drove our latest innovations with IT
Management Suite,” said Bryan Barney, SVP and GM, enterprise security products at Symantec. “With version 8.5, we’ve
added real-time management capabilities and doubled down on protection through deep integrations with Symantec’s leading
products to create powerful use cases that strengthen our customers’ overall security posture.”
Key updates include:
• Time Critical Management – Data is collected on demand and in real time for immediate intelligence that helps make
more informed security decisions, faster.
• Endpoint Quarantine – Endpoints that fail to pass a compliance scan can be blocked from the network through direct SEP
integration, helping prevent the spread of endpoint vulnerabilities such as WannaCry.
• Automated Vulnerability-based Scanning and Remediation – Integration with Control Compliance Suite Vulnerability
Manager scans for vulnerabilities and automatically delivers patches to online endpoints that need remediation.
• Modern UI Workspaces – New, modern UI for performing common daily tasks designed for simplicity and speed, allowing
technicians with little or no experience to utilise the power of ITMS without special training.
Aspirus, a non-profit, community-directed health system based in Wausau, Wisconsin with more than 7,700 employees has
implemented Symantec ITMS 8.5. Jesse Kozikowski, an infrastructure architect at Aspirus said, “As part of our security
strategy, we use many elements of Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defense platform including endpoint management. We’re
looking forward to taking advantage of the new features and functionality in ITMS 8.5, especially the integration with
Symantec Endpoint Protection to quarantine endpoints that don’t meet our compliance requirements and the ability to have
an accurate inventory of devices – Time Critical Management really takes that to the next level.”
