“Thank your cleaner” says New Zealand’s largest facilities management services company
A clean, tidy and hygienic workplace is something most of us take for granted but behind the scenes is a group of hard-working and unsung heroes - cleaners.
This Wednesday, 17 October, it’s Thank Your Cleaner Day. Making the invisible visible, this is New Zealand’s opportunity to show appreciation to tens of thousands of cleaners who work around the clock to make our working and living environments both hygienic and a pleasant place to be.
In New Zealand the cleaning industry is worth over $1 billion annually and employs nearly 40,000 people.
Facilities management services company, OCS, has over 4,200 staff working across New Zealand at more than 6,000 offices, shops, warehouses, airports and more - from Kaitaia to Invercargill.
OCS managing director Australia and New Zealand, Gareth Marriott, is delighted to get behind Thank Your Cleaner Day once again.
“Cleaning is one of the most important industries in the world yet is often undervalued by those who benefit from the service,” Mr Marriott says.
“Our clients are grateful for the expertise our team bring to their places of work – they know they can rely on their hard work to add value to their business through contributing to the overall work environment.
“Thank Your Cleaner Day is a fantastic opportunity to formally acknowledge our country’s cleaners and reinforce the fact they’re an appreciated and integral part of the New Zealand workforce.”
OCS’ cleaners are being celebrated in a variety of ways, including barbeques, morning teas and small tokens of thanks.
Mr Marriott says one client has created a space in their work place where everyone can leave thank you notes for the cleaners and another has changed their website home page to reflect the day.
“There are many ways to say thank you to your cleaner on Wednesday - every day should be Thank Your Cleaner Day.”
Thank Your Cleaner Day was launched by the Building Service Contractors of NZ (BSCNZ) in 2014, is sponsored by Kärcher and proudly supported by OCS New Zealand. The event has since gained global support.
