Great to see action on skills shortages.
The ITF welcomes the government’s announcements today confirming the elements of the Construction Skills Action Plan.
"It's good to see the government taking concrete steps to tackle skills issues, which are top of mind for industries
across the economy." Industry Training Federation Chief Executive Josh Williams says.
“Construction is a critical area of skills shortages but just one of many. Employers across the economy are struggling
to find skilled workers and part of the solution is upskilling and qualifying the workforce through on-the-job training
and apprenticeships.
“We applaud the government utilising procurement processes to ensure we are training our workforce. The Mana in Mahi
scheme is also an encouraging step to recognise the costs borne by employers, particularly in the early stages of
apprenticeships and for workers who require additional support.
"We encourage the government, its Business Advisory Council, and the Future of Work Forum to extend the policy programme
to support and encourage more employer-led training across the board." says Mr Williams.
