Gull commits to hold down prices despite fuel excise tax

At 00:01 hours on Sunday 30th September 2018, petrol prices across New Zealand will be pushed to greater highs with a 3.5 cents per litre increase to come into effect in the form of fuel excise tax.

Gull spokesperson, Rohan Mehta says, “We at Gull are committed to holding down our prices at least until Wednesday 3rd October 2018 across our company-operated retail network. We plan to sell our existing fuel stocks at current prices until mid-next week. This stock was bought prior to fuel excise tax increase and we think it’s appropriate to pass on the pre-tax savings to our customers.”

“We would rather be enjoying our time with friends and family on a Sunday than rushing around to put up prices. Lately, the country is witnessing record petrol prices ever recorded, and we are determined to offer some breathing space wherever possible.”

“The fuel excise tax is inevitable, and we will be putting up our prices but that can wait until mid- next week.”

At our company operated retail network across the North Island, where Gull controls retail prices, average prices will be as follows until at least Wednesday 3rd October 2018.
