Rockburn’s flagship Pinot Noir scored 97 out of 100 points and received Platinum Medal status at the prestigious
Decanter Asia Wine Awards (DAWA) 2018.
“We are thrilled to be recognised with this award from one of the most respected wine competitions in an important
region for New Zealand wine”, commented Rockburn’s General Manager, Rebecca Poynter. “It further cements the reputation
of Rockburn as one of New Zealand’s most consistent quality Pinot Noir producers.”
2018 Decanter Asia Wine Awards’ Vice-Chair Sarah-Jane Evans MW said: “We have judges ranging from MWs, wine buyers,
consultants, Master Sommeliers, importers, educators and journalists. So consumers can really trust the integrity of
these results.”
Only 39 wines received platinum awards, with Rockburn’s Pinot Noir being one of just four awarded to New Zealand wines.
Over 3,000 wines from 37 countries were judged by an international panel of 50 wine experts at this year’s Decanter Asia
Wine Awards which is in its seventh year and considered Asia’s most prestigious wine competition.
Gold medal-winning wines at this show are re-categorised by grape or style and re-tasted by a panel consisting of
Regional Chairs and Vice-Chairs. The top wines from this re-tasting are then promoted to Platinum Medal and Platinum
Medal Best in Show status.
