DLA Piper Appoints IT And Telecommunications Specialist Nick Valentine as Special Counsel
Nick Valentine is an IT and telecommunications specialist, with a background in Intellectual Property. He has a depth of experience in IT outsourcing including business process outsourcing, software development and licensing, data hosting, and data protection, privacy and open data.
"Our clients are constantly looking at ways to deal with the increasing demand from their customers for lower prices and improved user experiences. Investment in technology at every stage of the supply chain is crucial to lower costs and protect margin, as well as improve user experiences. This has led to an increase in automation, digitisation and IT and business process outsourcing. There is also heightened awareness of the risks posed by reliance on legacy systems with a patchwork of applications and structures, which are expensive to maintain and difficult to migrate away from," says Nick.
Nick is also experienced in advising tech start-ups and helping early stage companies understand how to protect their IP, facilitating an easier course to capital raising.
He joins DLA Piper, which, as the only global law firm in New Zealand, has first class global expertise in IT trends and developments, via specialist IT teams in Europe, USA and Asia.
“There is no other New Zealand firm that can plug into these markets and the changes with which they are conversant, as easily as DLA Piper can,” he says.
"With Nick's international knowledge and experience, it's fitting that he joins DLA Piper, a firm that delivers best practice and expertise worldwide," says Martin Wiseman, DLA Piper New Zealand Country Managing Partner.
