ASB helping New Zealanders open the door to a KiwiBuild home

ASB has put out the welcome mat for first home buyers wanting to become the proud owners of the first-ever KiwiBuild homes by announcing a special support package for those looking for a KiwiBuild home loan.
ASB acting executive general manager retail banking Claire McKinnon says the first KiwiBuild homes being ready for sale marks an important chapter in Auckland’s history. Doing what ASB can to help make living in a KiwiBuild home a reality reflects the core focus of the bank - accelerating the financial progress of New Zealanders.
"We were New Zealand’s first savings bank and we’re proud that 171 years on, ASB is achieving another milestone with this market-leading offer, helping those wanting to realise their KiwiBuild home ownership dream,” McKinnon says.
From today, ASB is committing to give a $2,500 cash contribution to customers who take out an ASB home loan to purchase a KiwiBuild property, upon settlement of their loan.
“The $2,500 cash contribution is to help take away a layer of expense. For example, it can be used towards the costs of purchasing their new KiwiBuild home, such as a property valuation or legal fees,” McKinnon says.
Plus, ASB will provide pre-approvals of up to 95 percent of the value of a KiwiBuild home for eligible customers, meaning participants may potentially only need a 5 percent deposit on their property.
“Our history shows we’re committed to supporting Kiwis into their first home by empowering them to confidently take steps towards realising their dream. It’s a journey we’re excited to be part of by providing tips, tools, guidance and advice, along with offering our market leading KiwiBuild support package.
“We’ve also set up a direct line to our specialist lending team for customers who would like to talk more about KiwiBuild with us. Our ASB specialist lenders will be available: Mon-Fri 8am to 8pm; Sat/Sun 8:30pm to 5pm. We’d love the opportunity to discuss our offer in more detail with those looking forward to opening the door on their KiwiBuild home. The number is 0800 275 272,” McKinnon says.
