Bindi Norwell, Chief Executive at REINZ says, “REINZ agrees with the findings of Anglican Advocacy’s recent report and
unequivocally stands by the call to regulate the property management industry, as this is well overdue.
“With the high level of responsibility that property managers have, with individuals holding keys, collecting rent
money, bonds and personal information and more, regulating the industry will ensure there are adequate consumer
protections in place.
“We believe that regulating the industry will improve transparency and provide clear guidelines and expectations, which
will not be an issue for the property managers already following the correct codes of conduct. Feedback from our members
has shown that the majority are in support of this movement.
“REINZ is already preparing its members for regulation with its recent launch of new and improved support services for
its property management members, including a revised accreditation programme, best practice guidelines, and education
programmes including the Certificate in Property Management.”
