Event highlights Māori leadership in tech innovation
Enspiral Dev Academy are powering a special edition of their successful Māori in Tech events - this time in Ōtautahi!
Enspiral Dev Academy’s web development courses allow students to learn by doing in small classes from professional developers. They can begin with little to no experience and leave with all the fundamentals of software development needed to be employed as junior developers.
Dev Academy is driven to increase diversity in tech, and offers Te Uru Rangi scholarships for Māori to attend their programme. Their aim is for the demographics of the tech industry to look more like the demographics of Aotearoa as a whole, and extend the huge opportunities offered in tech to a broad range of people from different backgrounds.
Dev Academy Kaiārahi Dougal Stott says, “We’re really excited to be showcasing tech ideas in Te Waipounamu. Māori are really leading the way in digital innovation for Aotearoa, and we want everyone to see that.”
With the support of Vodafone New Zealand Foundation, this Māori in Tech event will celebrate Māori entrepreneurs. Kendall Flutey from Banqer will be joined by Ariki Creative and Māui Studios in a panel discussion about the future of Māori in Tech, sharing their start-up story and holding a Q & A session with attendees.
The event is for anyone interested in tech entrepreneurship, web development and the advancement of Māori digital aspirations. If you are a professional, a student, considering a career change or interest in how we can apply technical skills to benefit iwi, businesses, and Māori development, come along.
