JUNO’s guide to KiwiSaver awarded the WriteMark for clarity
Pull-Quote: We’re proud to have met the WriteMark standard. For me, it’s like receiving an Oscar! It’s the ultimate achievement for advocates of plain language.’ — Jacqueline Taylor
The new JUNO KiwiSaver Scheme has achieved the WriteMark for its plain language consumer guide to KiwiSaver.
Helping New Zealanders understand KiwiSaver is taken seriously by the JUNO KiwiSaver Scheme, which launched on 1 August 2018 with a simple, low, monthly fee. So, the team at JUNO wrote a plain English guide to explain how KiwiSaver works, and how to get the most from investing in it. The free guide is available on the JUNO KiwiSaver Scheme website (https://www.junokiwisaver.co.nz/resources), and will also be inserted into the JUNO magazine spring issue on sale 27 August.
Jacqueline Taylor, co-founder of JUNO, says ‘understanding what KiwiSaver is for and how it works would make a real difference to many New Zealanders’ financial future. But as we know from our and others’ research, many people don’t understand KiwiSaver and don’t know where to find good information.’
The Oscars of plain language
The JUNO team wanted their guide to be in plain language. They asked experts to check the guide was written as simply and clearly as possible.
‘We’re proud to have met the WriteMark standard. For me, it’s like receiving an Oscar!’ says Taylor. ‘It’s the ultimate achievement for advocates of plain language. We hope our guide helps Kiwis become more aware of how KiwiSaver could work for them.’
Lynda Harris, founder of the WriteMark, was pleased JUNO had earned it.
‘Apart from buying a house, KiwiSaver is the biggest investment we make. JUNO has done a really good job to remove the barriers to understanding, which shows their dedication to their customers.’
The WriteMark Plain Language Standard — mark of document clarity
‘WriteMark experts award the WriteMark to documents with a high standard of structure, language, and design,’ says Harris. ‘JUNO has created a guide that meets these high standards.’
