New Zealand Prime Minister The Hon Jacinda Ardern has joined LinkedIn - the world’s largest professional network, as an Influencer. LinkedIn Influencers is an invite-only, global collective of 500+ of the world's foremost thinkers, leaders, and innovators who write, publish and share their opinions on LinkedIn. LinkedIn has over 575 million members globally, including over one million in New Zealand.

As a LinkedIn Influencer, she will join a select group of leaders including Malcolm Turnbull Prime Minister of Australia; Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India; Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan as well as some of the world's foremost thinkers and innovators including, Bill Gates, Co-chair of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Richard Branson, Founder at Virgin Group, Oprah Winfrey, Chairman and CEO, Oprah Winfrey Network and many more.

In her first day back at work following the birth of her baby girl, she published an article on LinkedIn reflecting on the time she has had off and thanking people for their support. She elaborates on the investment she is making in policies such as the recent Families Package and Best Start payment, and why supporting them is important to her. She shares that she came up with the idea on the floor of a friend’s house in Hastings, on the East Coast of New Zealand, based on research and evidence that a child’s first years make up the most important, formative period of their life.
