ASB’s regional centre opens in Hamilton city centre

Monday 30 July 2018

More than 25 years on from when ASB chose Hamilton as the home of its first branch outside of the Auckland-Northland area, the bank has opened a brand-new ‘ASB Central North Island Regional Centre’ in the heart of the Hamilton CBD.

The opening of the modern 1,150 square metre centre, on the corner of Bryce and Barton Streets, was celebrated this morning with a blessing led by local kaumatua.

The new purpose-built ASB branch and regional centre is just streets away from ASB’s original Angelsea Street branch continuing the bank’s investment in Hamilton’s CBD.

ASB acting executive general manager of retail banking Claire McKinnon says, ASB is proud of its connection and relationship with local businesses and Hamiltonians.

“At the heart of everything we do is a passion for helping Kiwis progress and achieve their financial goals, so being able to build even more on our strong history with the community through this brand-new base in the heart of the CBD is an exciting new chapter for everyone at ASB, and especially for our dedicated Waikato team.”

Visitors to the city’s newest branch will be greeted by the same friendly local team who have relocated from the ASB Hamilton branch in Victoria Street.

ASB customers will also enjoy experiencing the latest digital banking services including 24-hour automated ‘express banking’ transaction facilities, business banking, Smart ATMs plus video access to ASB’s wider comprehensive team of banking experts.

Immediately above the branch, the ASB Central North Island Regional Centre is designed on the principals of activity-based working, similar to ASB’s head office in Auckland. The centre provides office space and meeting rooms for more than 90 people from the local ASB retail, commercial, wealth and insurance and rural banking teams.
