Nikko AM announces promotion in NZ Equities Team
Nikko Asset Management is pleased to announce the promotion of Michael De Cesare to the position of Portfolio Manager within the NZ Equities Team.
Stuart Williams, Head of Equities, Nikko AM NZ, says the additional responsibilities are in recognition of Michael’s “significant contribution to client portfolios over the last couple of years. Within the flat team structure of the Equities Team, all the team members now hold portfolio management responsibilities as well as sectoral research responsibilities”.
Michael joined Nikko AM in 2012 and has eight years’ experience working in financial markets and corporate finance. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) having earned this qualification in 2014. He also holds a First Class Honours Degree in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham Business School, United Kingdom.

Nikko AM NZ actively manages around NZD5.2 billion of investments. It manages domestic assets through its Auckland-based investment team and employs carefully selected offshore managers to manage global assets. Nikko AM is one of Asia’s largest asset managers, with total assets under management of USD220 billion. It provides high-conviction, active fund management across a range of Equity, Fixed Income and Multi-Asset strategies.
Nikko AM NZ is solely in the business of investment management. It currently manages investments for corporate superannuation schemes, community and charitable trusts, foundations, financial planners, banks, insurance companies, KiwiSaver Schemes, corporations, other fund managers and retail investors.
The Nikko AM NZ Equities Team manages over $700 million across Concentrated Funds (James Lindsay, lead Portfolio Manager), Property and NZ only Funds (Michael Sherrock, lead Portfolio Manager), the SRI Fund (Michael De Cesare, lead Portfolio Manager) and Core Funds (Stuart Williams, lead Portfolio Manager).
