First stop Palmerston North for NetHui Roadtrip 2018
New Zealand’s favourite Internet gathering, NetHui will hit the road and its first stop is Palmerston North in the Manawatu on 5 October 2018.
NetHui brings people together to discuss the future of the Internet and the challenges and opportunities the Internet brings to us all. InternetNZ has helped to bring NetHui to New Zealanders interested in the future of the Internet since 2011.
InternetNZ CEO, Jordan Carter says, "We’ve all been proud to watch NetHui grow, especially as the Internet plays a more prominent role in our lives. We’re excited to take NetHui on the road again so that every New Zealander has the opportunity to not only participate but lead with the issues that matter most to them."
Palmerston North Mayor Grant Smith is thrilled InternetNZ has selected the Manawatu region to launch its national NetHui Roadtrip. "Last year, we developed a vision for Palmerston North: Small city benefits, big city ambition. This reflects the value we all place on the great quality of life, community spirit, and affordable access to services that come with being a small city, as well as our ambition to have the opportunities larger cities offer.
"The Internet is an essential tool to unlock these opportunities, and NetHui Manawatu is a great forum to discuss how our citizens can collaborate with Palmerston North City Council to drive innovation and digital transformation, and help us realise our vision for the city. I encourage you to get involved."
Jordan Carter is looking forward to seeing the NetHui Roadtrip programme unfold. "We welcome this region’s contribution - to build the NetHui Manawatu programme - with topics that will be most useful for you and your community. So whether you're a small business owner, an educator, someone from the tech sector or simply someone who enjoys the Internet, NetHui is a space for you."
The NetHui Advisory Committee are looking for participants to help us build our NetHui Manawatu Roadtrip programme. If you’re interested in discussing the Internet issues we face today then we want to hear from you.
Keep an eye on the NetHui website and NetHui social media channels for updates on when and how you can help build the NetHui Manawatu programme.
