Innovative Customer Experiences in a Laundromat?

Published: Thu 31 May 2018 10:06 AM
Proof that innovation can happen anywhere, in this instance, a brand-new laundromat in Napier.
Napier’s freshest laundromat, Soap Laundromat opened this week at the former Green Frog Video Rentals site at 26 Kennedy Road. Developed with the aim of offering the ideal customer experience, the laundromat has employed smart technology to inform, entertain and fulfil their customer’s needs.
Soap Laundromat offers 25 high-tech Speed Queen machines for a fast, efficient and effective wash and dry, saving customers time and with minimal water and energy consumption, they are eco-friendly too.
The Speed Queen machines are manufactured in the USA with some have enormous capacities up to 34Kgs, able to fit entire sports teams kit or whole sets of bed linen in a single load with ease.
The laundromat also features free Wi-Fi and Giggle TV, so that customers can surf the web and be entertained while waiting for their washing to finish in the clean and comfortable surroundings.
Payment options were highlighted as a problem by customers of other laundromats, so Soap Laundromat invested in a smart token machine to make things as simple as possible, offering EFTPOS and credit cards facilities in addition to accepting $1 and $2 coins.
Finally, the company developed Soap TV, a revolutionary way for tech-savvy customers to check online how many machines are free before even visiting the laundromat, how long they’ve got left on their washing or drying cycle or if they’ve won a lucky $1 cycle.
It appears that the intended customer experience has hit the nail on the head, since opening, the laundromat has seen many customers, some of which report that this was the first time they’ve used a laundromat and that they would revisit in the future.
