White Ribbon Trust on widespread harassment
Press Release from White Ribbon Trust on widespread harassment, bullying and racism within the law profession
30 May 2018
“We absolutely have a
crisis in New Zealand in and outside the workplace; the
level of violence, sexual harassment and bullying is
widespread, and frankly unacceptable” says Anna Campbell,
White Ribbon first female Ambassador. “This highlights the
need for all businesses in New Zealand to take a stand,
speak up and make serious changes.”.
Anna Campbell, the Global Chief Executive Officer at FAB Group, has seen how White Ribbon’s business accreditation scheme supports respectful cultures in workplaces. “When I was a member of the Warehouse Group Executive Team we were the first Company in NZ to become accredited to White Ribbon NZ. This promoted a respectful culture that clearly shows harassment is unacceptable and respectful, nonviolent behaviour is the norm” says Anna Campbell.
White Ribbon’s business accreditation scheme has a robust approach that develops an organisation’s culture to emphasis the respectful behaviour and to intervene to stop abuse.
“White Ribbon prevents men’s violence against women, including in work places”, explains Rob McCann, Campaign Manager. “Violence has a huge cost for businesses, while organisations must meet health and safety obligations and legal requirements to protect their people. Our accreditation scheme develops a safe workplace culture for everyone. Clearly legal firms need this now”.
