Christchurch’s Pulzar FM Partners with NZME

Marking the next milestone in their continued success, Pulzar FM is thrilled to announce a new partnership with leading national broadcaster, NZME. The arrangement sees the media group extend their reach to the thousands of fiercely loyal Pulzar listeners in the heart of the South Island.

Pulzar FM was conceived in Christchurch in 1999 and today stands as New Zealand’s longest running independent dance music radio station, now broadcasting on 105.7FM across Canterbury. As part of this announcement, Pulzar will additionally extend their reach both across the rest of the country and internationally on the iHeart Radio network, becoming not just Christchurch’s heartbeat, but one of the nation.

In their first decade Pulzar cultivated a cult like following as a low power station transmitting out of the CBD before launching on a full commercial, Canterbury-wide frequency exactly nine years ago. The strength of this following and the commitment of those surrounding the station has seen it survive one of the most catastrophic events in our nation’s modern time and emerge as a powerhouse of Kiwi radio and music talent.

Embracing change, the team have shown their unwavering commitment to delivering an upbeat format comprised of many different genres of dance & electronic music. Passionate supporters of homegrown artists, the station also plays over 35% Kiwi music and partners with NZ on Air Music to produce several cornerstone shows.

We invite you to discover, or rediscover, the unique feel of a station that has spent almost 20 years earning its reputation as a Christchurch institution.”

With physical relocation of the station to NZME’s Christchurch based broadcasting studios Andy believes the partnership will be long and prosperous, stating the future couldn’t be brighter; “We’re proud to programme a hot mix of upbeat electronic, dance and New Zealand music and believe the opportunities available to us by partnering with NZME will set Pulzar FM on an excellent path for national expansion and brand connection."
