Spanbild Takes 100% Share of Concision
Spanbild Holdings Ltd and Mike Greer Homes Ltd (MGH) have reached agreement for Spanbild to acquire Mike Greer Homes' share in Concision, the building panelisation factory in Rolleston, near Christchurch. Spanbild is now the 100% owner of Concision. MGH will be one of Concision’s customers. As part of the transaction Spanbild and MGH will continue to jointly own all intellectual property developed by Concision up until March 2018.
Spanbild and Mike Greer Homes established Concision in 2015 to provide high volume, high precision panels for their residential housing and commercial businesses. Since then Concision has successfully supported the rapid construction of about 500 houses, multi-unit dwellings, schools and other commercial buildings with a continuing and growing pipeline of future demand.
Spanbild will continue Concision’s product development to supply New Zealand’s increasing demand for pre-site manufacturing in a range of markets, while integrating its operations and maximising synergies with Spanbild’s five existing manufacturing plants and building work in New Zealand and Australia.
Mike Greer Homes will continue to use Concision-manufactured panels to support its expansion in Auckland and North Island markets, while developing its own manufacturing plant located closer to these markets.
Spanbild Chairman Don Elder says the company’s full ownership, development plans and further investment in Concision, will deliver major benefits to its customers and to the New Zealand building sector.
“Everyone agrees the need for high quality, fast, off-site manufacturing to meet an ever-widening gap that can’t be addressed by conventional construction,” says Don Elder.
“Spanbild already provides up to 5,000 finished buildings each year from our five existing factories. We will now apply our 50 years of experience directly to Concision’s world-class capability, to substantially increase our range and volume of building solutions in almost every segment of the building market. This will deliver major benefits to our customers and help address the urgent needs of the New Zealand building industry.”
With Concision as part of its manufacturing capability, Spanbild provides all the main types of pre-site manufacturing – components, panels, pods, modules, and volumetric systems, as well as transportable finished buildings – using a full range of building materials.
Buildings produced using Spanbild’s manufacturing technologies and solutions range from houses, farm buildings and site offices, to schools and commercial buildings, to multi-unit complexes up to five to seven storeys.
Don Elder says “Our acquisition of Concision is part of our strategy for continued strong growth as we reach nearly a half century of operation in New Zealand”.
“To ensure we best meet customer expectations, we have merged Spanbild Projects, our existing commercial building solutions company, into Concision, to seamlessly integrate the substantial design and technology IP and delivery capability of these two companies. Concision is now a single point of contact for all Concision’s existing and future products, and for Spanbild’s project and design solutions”.
“With ongoing development and investment under Spanbild, Concision will continue to expand its product range and capacity, to meet the strongly growing market demand for pre-site manufacturing across a wide range of building markets”.
“We will make a series of announcements over coming months as we roll out an exciting set of innovations and developments the market is waiting for, that continue what we've been working on at Spanbild for almost 50 years.”
Spanbild takes over full ownership of Concision, and operation of the Christchurch factory, which employs 48 staff, this week.
