Big tourism spending and continued growth give Europcar New Zealand strong market position
Europcar New Zealand, a major player in mobility markets, has been experiencing strong growth and with projected visitor numbers to the country, the global leader in car rental expects to grow even bigger this year.
Staying true to its commitment to sustainable motoring solutions and with an ever-growing appetite for innovation, it added ten 100% electric vehicles to its fleet, as demand for the environmentally friendly cars increase.
With the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) projecting visitor numbers to reach 4.9 million and international spend surpassing $15 billion by 2023, and the America’s Cup, Europcar NZ General Manager Stephen Jones expects even more growth in 2018.
“We enjoyed significant growth in the New Zealand market for 2017, reinforcing our world leading position as a global mobility provider.
“In December, demand for prestige vehicles saw a significant increase and with the arrival of America’s Cup, we would expect that figure to increase, demonstrating the demand for luxury vehicles by domestic and international travellers.”
With New Zealand ranking as a top destination spot for high net worth individuals and premium tourism numbers expected to grow, Jones says the flow on effect is seeing increase other areas of the market such as demand for prestige vehicles also growing.
Europcar New Zealand attributes much of its success to what it calls a ‘superior and leading- edge customer service experience’. According to Jones, people are no longer willing to go through endless pages of paperwork and bureaucracy simply to hire a car.
“Our philosophy at Europcar is to stay two steps ahead of the game and embrace emerging trends. For example, we consider increasing our electric vehicle fleet size a sound investment move as we know this is the future of motoring.
“Signing on glass instead of paper for paperless checkouts create a quicker, hassle free and generally more pleasant experience for our customers and our Quick Vehicle Record app which provides our clients with increased peace of mind on vehicle condition at checkout.
“This comes following strategic repositioning through a customer-centric focus and digital transformation to address the fast-growing and changing mobility needs beyond traditional car rental.”
