Dream opportunity offered to NZ start-ups
Dream opportunity offered to NZ start-ups
For the first time in New Zealand, our largest and smartest co-working building is offering one lucky Kiwi start-up business the chance to work on their premises rent-free for 12 months.
Smales Farm, has launched the Race for Space, a competition for entrepreneurs, start-ups and early stage small businesses to win a year’s free office space, which also includes furniture for all employees, internet connection and usage, management by the B:HIVE concierge team of all the day-to-day office management and the priceless opportunity to make important business connections with other innovative tenants at the brand new B:HIVE, New Zealand’s largest and smartest co-working building on Auckland’s beautiful North Shore.
Smales Farm Chief Executive Paul Gunn says as an innovator in the workspace industry, it’s fantastic to be able to empower a Kiwi start-up by providing a work environment that will allow their business to thrive and allow the winner to really focus on their business and not have to worry about the running costs of an office space and operations.
“New Zealand is a breeding ground for entrepreneurial talent and we have a high rate of small businesses operating in our little country.
“We
are pleased to be able to offer a talented group of people
the best they can get in terms of work environment, so they
can focus on reaching their true potential running their
business
in a cutting-edge eco-system that’s all about
innovation, collaboration and bringing ideas to life.”
The top six entries will have to present their case to a panel of judges including Anna Mowbray (ZURU Toys), Jake Millar (Unfiltered), Greg Smale (Smales Farm), Vaughan Rowsell (Vend), Elly Strang (Idealog), Cecilia Robinson (My Food Bag) and Peri Drysdale (Snowy Peak) in a Dragon’s Den style setting.
To qualify, businesses will need to have an established business plan, be between six and 24 months old, be ready to accelerate to the next level and preferably have six or less employees.
To enter, they will need to upload a 30-60 second video to the campaign website raceforspace.idealog.co.nz which shows their business, product or service in action, the steps taken to bring it to market, the measures of success and other details. This is followed by an online registration form for businesses to fill out where they’ll be asked to provide their dream for their business along a series of questions. The winning business will also get editorial coverage, as well as PR support by acclaimed PR agency Lily & Louis, a package worth $85k.
