Introducing the New Era of Intelligent Cloud
Microsoft Azure Summit 2018 will feature global and local leaders talking about the next stage of digital transformation
New Zealand, 10 April 2018 – Global leaders in cloud and digital transformation will feature in a premier line-up of speakers at this year’s
Microsoft Azure Summit 2018.
Business leaders, decision-makers and IT experts will come together on Wednesday 11 April at the ANZ Viaduct Centre to
hear about the evolution of cloud and what it means for Kiwi organisations.
“With such huge advances in cloud technology it’s great timing for an event like this, to give Kiwi businesses a clear
idea of how they can make cloud work for them and to give them the tools they need to accelerate their digital
transformation journey,” says Patrick Quesnel, Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise BG Lead.
A Microsoft survey of 100 New Zealand IT professionals found that 42 percent are already on the hybrid cloud journey,
with this expected to increase to 47 percent over the next 12 to 18 months. A large proportion are still using outdated
cloud solutions, with 46 percent using private cloud and 12 percent using a public cloud solution alone[1].
Vijay Tewari, Microsoft’s Principal Azure Group Programme Manager, based in Seattle will lead a presentation on
intelligent cloud, diving into hybrid infrastructure and how businesses can turn massive amounts of data into valuable
insights. Tewari has spent his entire career with Microsoft and currently heads up the team developing the software that
enables customers to run Azure Stack, Microsoft’s hybrid solution, in their data centres.
“It’s not every day Kiwi organisations have the opportunity to hear from global specialists like Vijay. They will learn
about how our partners and customers are applying cloud to their businesses and the real and tangible benefits it’s
giving them.
“We’re looking forward to giving Kiwi business and IT leaders some unique insights they can take away around how to
build intelligent apps and ways to convert data into real value,” Quesnel says.
Cloud has evolved to enable a multitude of new and exciting opportunities for businesses, bedded in the ability to build
tailored platforms and deliver apps like chatbots, dashboards and communication interfaces.
Representatives from Microsoft’s local partners, including Revera in Wellington and Umbrellar in Auckland, will take the
stage to describe how they have built unique software solutions for their customers using Azure Stack. An example is
Mercy Radiology’s use of Azure Stack to enable its digital healthcare network and capture data to create a better
overall patient experience.
The topic of data security will also feature in the programme, particularly in relation to sensitive information held by
customers in healthcare and the public sector, with a presentation from Microsoft’s own expert, Russell Craig, Chief
Technical Officer.
Following the event in Auckland, Microsoft Azure Summit 2018 will head to Wellington on Tuesday May 1, for another day
of exciting speakers and discussion.
