PrivacyLive Speaker Series: Working Towards Trusted Data Use

Join us for this PrivacyLive Forum and learn about the Data Futures Partnership’s Guidelines for Trusted Data Use from one of its authors, Professor Rhema Vaithianathan, at our free public PrivacyLive Forum in Auckland on 11 April 2018.

This PrivacyLive Forum is on from 12.30pm-1.30pm at the Pioneer Women’s Hall, Ellen Melville Centre, Freyberg Place (off High St), Central Auckland.

The Guidelines for Trusted Data Use were created for the Data Futures Partnership and they set out the key questions New Zealanders expect to be answered before they are comfortable sharing their personal information. The Guidelines offer advice on the sort of answers likely to lead to trusted data use. They also explain situations where proactive engagement with communities may be needed.

About the speaker: Rhema Vaithianathan
Rhema is co-director and co-founder of the Centre for Social Data Analytics and a Professor of Health Economics at Auckland University of Technology. She has a strong interest in implementing data-analytics solutions with agency partners that address entrenched social problems, like child maltreatment and homelessness. Rhema currently has a leading role on several predictive analytics for social good projects in the USA, including the Allegheny Family Screening Tool in Allegheny County, PA. Rhema was a member of the NZ Data Futures Partnership from 2015-2017 and was one of 4 invited presenters to the closed session of last year’s International Privacy Commissioners’ Conference.
