Minimum wage boost sending the right signals

Minimum wage boost sending the right signals
"Everyone deserves to be paid decently for the work they do," says CTU President Richard Wagstaff, "and Sunday’s 75c boost in the minimum wage is a good step towards better valuing working people."
"The minimum wage is just that- the minimum, but too many employers seem to think it’s a target. Wages and salaries across the board in New Zealand need a boost to share wealth fairly and protect a decent quality of life. Minimum wage rises need to be complemented with better employment law so we can catch up with other developed countries."
"In 2017 we elected a new Government that made a strong commitment to lifting wages and this move is part of making that commitment real."
"We can create a future for Aotearoa where all working people earn a dignified income. Today’s boost, on the way to $20 in 2020, is a plan that all New Zealanders will want to be part of."
