LANZBC congratulates NZ Government on signing of CPTPP
The Latin America New Zealand Business Council (‘LANZBC’), the leading business organisation focused solely on the promotion of trade and commerce between New Zealand and Latin America, wholeheartedly congratulates the New Zealand Government on the signing of The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership in Chile this morning.
The introduction of free trade agreements with Mexico and Peru and the Agreement’s removal of many barriers to market offers New Zealand exporters significant opportunity to expand their consumer base. The LANZBC looks forward to assisting those organisations venturing into these highly rewarding markets.
Matthew O’Meagher, President of the LANZBC commented:
‘The signing of this agreement in Santiago highlights the Latin American dimensions of this Agreement and its potential to increase New Zealand firms’ appreciation of opportunities on Latin America’s Pacific Rim.’
LANZBC member and former LANZBC director Nick Fitzpatrick, Commercial Sales Manager – International for T Global, commenting on the opportunities arising as a result of free trade agreements between New Zealand and Peru, stated:
‘“T is a supporter of free and fair trade and with operations spanning many countries, including Peru and Chile. The CPTPP and new FTA between NZ and Peru will no doubt be positive and hopefully increase trade and ease of business between two countries where T has operations. We are also pleased to see ongoing developments in fair trade.”
LANZBC director Nick Williams of Pacific Basin Exports commented:
‘I am very pleased to finally see the successful conclusion of the CPTPP negotiations and believe that this will further strengthen the relationship New Zealand has with the Latin American member countries of Mexico, Peru and Chile. There is vast opportunity for the New Zealand agricultural and agritech sectors within Latin America and FTA’s such as this can only help better facilitate trade between these countries.’
