Serko appoints Head of Marketing to support international growth
Sydney, Australia. 21 February 2018 – Serko (SKO.NZ), a leader in online travel and expense management for business, today announced that it has appointed Nick Whitehead as Head of Marketing.
This new appointment is part of Serko’s strategic initiative to scale the business as it prepares to launch its new flagship offering, Zeno, into the Australasian market and to expand into North America, the UK and Europe during 2018.
Darrin Grafton, Serko CEO said, “As we work towards building a global brand, we’re driving awareness and demand for our solutions in new markets. Bringing Nick on board is a key part of that, and we’re backing up his appointment with further investment in the marketing function to truly take Zeno to the world”.
Nick has over 15 years’ experience launching innovative products into new segments and helping technology brands enter new geographies. Most recently he was Head of Marketing for Viostream, an enterprise video platform headquartered in Australia that was recognised in the Deloitte Fast 50 Awards. His achievements included the expansion of the customer base into global enterprise accounts such as Amazon Web Services, Google and Adobe.
“Business travel has always been a big part of my life, but the process to plan, book and reconcile travel was often painful and more time consuming than it needed to be. That’s why I’m so excited about the transformation that Zeno is going to bring to corporate travel; a consumer grade experience that will deliver a streamlined, positive experience for travellers”, explained Nick as context for his move. “My focus is now firmly on establishing Zeno as the premium offering in the Australasian market before our expansion into North America and Europe later this year.”
As announced in its half year results, Serko’s revenues grew 30% over the prior year’s period and Nick’s appointment is one of a number of executive hires including Charlie Nowaczek (COO) and Rich Miller (GM Sales, U.S. Market) that are providing Serko with the leadership resources to execute on its stated growth plans for Northern Hemisphere expansion and uplift in existing markets through the rollout of Zeno.
