Cyclone Gita
Air New Zealand has cancelled a number of services scheduled for this afternoon as former Cyclone Gita approaches and weather conditions are forecast to deteriorate.
The airline has cancelled all services into and out of Wellington from 2.45pm today through until midnight. This may have a flow on effect to other services.
The airline is also cancelling services into and out of the following ports until the end of the day –
Hokitika
Nelson (from midday onwards)
New Plymouth (from 11.00am onwards)
Queenstown
Flights are currently operating into and out of Blenheim, Kapiti Coast and Palmerston North, the airline is closely monitoring conditions there.
Customers booked to travel to or from any of the above ports today are advised to consult the arrivals and departures information on the Air New Zealand website here for up to date schedule information.
Customers who are able to make changes to their booking online including changing to another flight within the next two days will be sent notifications to their mobile phones outlining how they can self-manage any changes.
The contact centre is experiencing extremely high call volumes. If travel is not urgent, there is no need for customers to call the airline immediately.
Customers who no longer require to travel automatically have the option to transfer their booking to another date or hold the fare value in credit for up to 12 months toward future travel without the need to advise our contact centre today. They may also change their travel to another Air New Zealand domestic destination or apply for a refund (normal refund rules apply).
The airline recommends customers ensure they are subscribed to Air New Zealand’s Travel Alert service to receive updates.
Air New Zealand will operate additional flights tomorrow between Auckland and Wellington to accommodate disrupted customers. These include:
NZ6141: Auckland – Wellington (Departs 0925)
NZ6142: Wellington – Auckland (Departs 1105)
NZ6143: Auckland – Wellington (Departs 1315)
NZ6144: Wellington – Auckland (Departs 1455)
Ends
