Landcorp seeks senior farm leader for unique Cape Foulwind position
It is not the job for everyone, but for the right person, it could be the start of an amazing career with New Zealand’s
leading farmer, says Landcorp’s General Manager of Dairy Operations, Mark Julian
Julian is talking about Landcorp’s Buller dairy complex, in the Buller on the West Coast, which is looking for a new
business manager.
The remote collection of five dairy farms, one dairy support farm & one machinery business milks upwards of 4,800 cows across 3000 hectares.
Julian says the position is a challenging one because of both the scale and the location.

unique sprit of the West Coast, and provides an amazing lifestyle. It offers the right person an exciting career
opportunity.”
Julian says the ideal candidate will be someone who understands farming, has excellent leadership and business skills,
and is wanting to step up to the next level in their career.
“People progressing in careers in agriculture now are managing and leading large teams of people and are exposed to
managing many aspects of a farm business way beyond just putting cups on cows. This role is an opportunity for the right
person to grow their capabilities in a supportive corporate farming environment.”
Current manager Rebecca Keoghan has been able to progress within Landcorp and has been appointed General Manager of the
Pamu Academy, which is a Landcorp joint venture with Wilson Consulting Group and is focused on improving safety
leadership in the agriculture sector and beyond.
Keoghan says she is reluctant to leave what she calls the best job in the world.
“The great thing is I am going to remain living on the Coast, and will make sure I pass on my knowledge and any support
I can to the new manager,” she says.
Keoghan, a former Dairy Woman of the Year, says the job offers many benefits.
“It is not often you can get to operate six large farms like these. The size and scale are challenging and also
rewarding. The feeling of satisfaction you get when you have the farm humming along safely, with good production, happy
animals and great staff, is enormous.
“Buller is a special place and as people know the West Coast is unique. From a family perspective, I reckon what we have
to offer on the Coast, especially the outdoors & facilities, is unrivalled in New Zealand.”
