New Business Development Director for Destination Queenstown
Queenstown, New Zealand (Monday 11 December, 2017) – Destination Queenstown (DQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kiran Nambiar to the position of Business Development Director, effective from January 2018.
Kiran has over 20 years of experience working in the tourism and travel industry, across several international markets, within travel trade marketing, consumer marketing, project management, business to business sales, PR & business management.
The newly established position of Business Development Director at DQ will oversee all channel sales and trade marketing activity including domestic and international travel trade, industry partnerships, business events (C) and Study. This position will also become the Director of the Queenstown Convention Bureau (QCB).
Kiran, who is relocating to NZ from Canada, has extensive experience in strategic and leadership roles in government and private sector organisations. Kiran was Tourism New Zealand’s Country Manager in India before progressing to the position of Regional Manager India & South-East Asia, spending nine years with the national tourism organisation, promoting New Zealand as a visitor destination to these key markets. Prior to this Kiran held positions with Kuoni Travel Limited and SITA World Travel Limited.
More recently Kiran has held senior positions as Vice President and Country Manager United States with Cox and Kings Group, one of the longest established travel companies in the world with operations in 22 countries and four continents. He has also recently completed an MBA from Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, Canada.
Destination Queenstown Chief Executive Graham Budd is delighted to welcome Kiran into the Business Development Director position.
“Kiran has great travel trade and marketing experience as well as a good understanding of DQ, Queenstown and the tourism industry and I know he will be a great addition to the DQ senior management team. We are excited to welcome Kiran into the organisation and look forward to working with him,” says Mr Budd.
Kiran will start with Destination Queenstown on the 8th of January.
