Successful seminar series introducing new gas detection technology

Auckland-based Entec, a NZ supplier of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and gas detection solutions, recently ran a series of customer seminars which outlined the latest technological advances in the field of portable gas detection.

Entec is the New Zealand distributor for Industrial Scientific, a leading manufacturer of portable gas detection systems based in Pittsburgh, PA in the United States.

Industrial Scientific held four seminars – branded as “Innovate 2017”, in Houston, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and Edmonton, and then “took the show on the road” with stops in Australia and New Zealand, where Entec hosted the events.

The focus of the seminars was to introduce the newest generation of products from Industrial Scientific; the Ventis Pro portable gas detector series, and the Radius BZ-1 area gas monitor.

The theme of the seminar focussed around the concept that – just as the internet age has ushered in a new error of connectivity in our day-to-day lives, it has also enabled powerful new features for portable gas detectors. The most notable of these - peer to peer connectivity.

Traditionally, a wearable gas detector would generate a loud alarm in the event that an unsafe gas level was detected. However, if the wearer is working out of earshot of anyone else, or is incapacitated, that alarm may go unnoticed.

With the new wireless connectivity, multiple devices can link together in a peer to peer network. This linking can take place “right out of the box” without the need for additional site infrastructure such as wireless transmitters and repeaters. Once connected, any alarms generated within the network are immediately broadcast around the network, allowing workers to look out for one another.

Entec hosted the local seminars in Auckland and New Plymouth and we were pleased to welcome a total of 50 attendees to the half-day events.

“This was a great opportunity for us to get existing customers and some new prospects all together, to have good in-depth conversations about how this new technology can help to make everybody’s workplaces safer,” comments Bob Weston, Entec managing director.

“The most popular part of the event was the break-out sessions when everyone got a chance to try the wireless connectivity for themselves. It was loud – really loud – but it was a great demonstration of this new technology.”
