Solarcity wins top innovation and leadership awards
Auckland - 27 November 2017. Solarcity, the nation’s leading solar energy services company, won the top innovation award and its founder, Andrew Booth, was named Industry Person of the Year at the at the annual conference for the Sustainable Electricity Association of New Zealand. (1)
The NZ-owned company’s solarZero energy service, which combines clean solar power and grid power at exclusive low rates, received the award for the Most Innovative New Service for 2017.
“It takes continuity of performance over more than a single year to earn these awards,” says Booth.
“Our company installs one in three residential solar systems across NZ. This is the third year in succession that we have won the innovation award which is testimony to our team and the strong product roadmap we have built around strengthening our customer relationships.”
Booth received the Supreme Award for his forward-thinking and innovation which SEANZ said “pushed the industry boundaries as well as his commitment, above and beyond his business, to the interests of Kiwis who want energy independence”.
Booth says innovation is the key to helping Kiwi homeowners join the global shift to clean energy.
“It’s totally logical that we’ll have 100% sustainable energy in New Zealand, because unsustainable energy, by definition, is unsustainable. The only outstanding question is how quickly we get there and to what degree we negatively impact the environment by getting there slower.”
“Our industry has driven a significant increase in clean technology jobs across our nation and should be proud of all its achievements that have been made without any of the subsidies paid out to support fossil fuels industries.”
solarZero is an all-in-one residential energy service designed to beat any power price and provide savings. Homeowners do not pay any product costs for the solar technology as it is owned and managed by solarcity.
“We’re making it easy to switch to cleaner, cheaper power that will be at the heart of our nation’s transition to 100% renewable energy.”
Survey results released by global measurement company Nielsen earlier this year revealed that 45,600 Kiwi households plan to install solar power over the next 12 months. (2)
