Do You Know The Most Overworked Business Owner in NZ?

Do You Know The Most Overworked Business Owner in NZ?

The search is on for New Zealand’s most overworked business owner. It’s an outreach competition launched this week by Auckland based digital agency Hatch, who hope to identify and then assist a business that could make tangible time savings through the power of automation technology.

97% of New Zealand's businesses are classified as small or medium enterprises, run by owners who employee 29% of the whole workforce.

"Business owners tell us that they have to wear too many hats in their businesses, it's time technology wore some of those" Hatch Managing Director, Cody Carnachan says.

He continues, "The promise of technology has always been that it would make our lives easier and we would get to work less. But that's not happening compared to other countries. We want business owners to have access to the latest automation technology to make their lives easier."

Previous UK studies have suggested business owners work a whopping 63% longer than the average worker. If this holds in New Zealand, it makes SME business owners some of the hardest workers in the country.

The business owner who receives the coveted title will win up to $8,000 of automation consulting in an effort to take her current 80 or 60 our work week, and automate it down to 40 hours.

The campaign is supported by Yellow who regularly work with Hatch on automation projects. “We have a shared objective, which is to make owning and running a business easier. This collaboration helps us bring together great minds to solve for Kiwi business owners,” says Chantelle Harper, Marketing Communications Manager at Yellow.

The most overworked business owner will be chosen by the Hatch team based on the number of hours worked, & the ability to make a tangible difference on the organisation and business owner.

Friends and family of business owners, as well as professional services providers who work with business owners are encouraged to nominate a deserving business person. Nominations can be made at www.overworked.co.nz. Nominations close on Tuesday 21st November.
