Subway Helps Fight Hunger
Subway® Helps Fight Hunger in New Zealand for
World
Sandwich Day
On World Sandwich Day, tomorrow Friday the
3rd of November Subway® shops around the world will come
together for their largest fundraising event, the Subway®
“Live Feed,” an initiative to help fight hunger
globally.
To celebrate the movement, every local customer who visits a Subway® shop on 3 November has the opportunity to buy a sub, salad or wrap, get one free for a friend, and also help Subway® give a meal to someone in need through KiwiHarvest.
Every meal donated on World Sandwich Day will become part of the global Subway® movement and will be tracked through the Subway® “Live Feed” digital ticker in high profile areas around the world. Subway® is expecting to donate thousands of meals across New Zealand, and millions more globally.
Subway® New Zealand has partnered with national hunger relief charity KiwiHarvest as part of the initiative, which will assist 7 percent of New Zealand households classified as having low food security.
Each month, KiwiHarvest delivers more than 40,000 kilos of surplus fresh food to over 150 New Zealand charities to help provide hunger relief to those that need it most.
Deborah Manning, CEO of KiwiHarvest says she is delighted to be part of Subway’s largest fundraising event, Subway® “Live Feed.”
“We are expecting to feed thousands of Kiwis seeking hunger relief through the Subway® “Live Feed,” and we are thrilled that this campaign has been launched by Subway®,” Deborah says.
“Hunger relief is such an important issue globally and it’s so great that Subway® has offered to help raise donations for New Zealanders who struggle to put food on their plates for themselves and their families,” Deborah continues.
Pua Magasiva from Shortland Street has also put his weight behind the campaign. “More and more, we’re seeing families turning to charities such as KiwiHarvest for support as they struggle to feed their families. I encourage everyone to join me in heading to Subway® on World Sandwich Day to help those less fortunate than ourselves.”
By simply dropping in to your local Subway® restaurant on 3 November, you can help make a difference to a fellow Kiwi in need.
The charity day will be occurring across over 270 Subway® restaurants across New Zealand.
