Website covers new ground for fertiliser spreaders
A new website has been launched by the New Zealand Groundspread Fertilisers Association (NZGFA). The site - www.nzgfa.co.nz - promotes best practice fertiliser spreading. It was recently unveiled alongside a new logo at the NZGFA 61st annual
conference.
The new site provides industry news and advice for groundspreaders as well as information for farmers, growers and other
fertiliser users on how to find a local groundspreader accredited to Spreadmark, the industry’s standard. There is also
career advice for prospective groundspreaders, and a video that explains training as well as potential salary.
A key feature is the members’ toolkit - a secure area of the site with downloadable versions of the NZGFA Driver Safety
Manual and the Health and Safety Manual. In addition the members’ area includes a sales yard and a situations vacant
section.
“The groundspreading industry plays a vital part in primary industry,” says Dean Brooks, NZGFA’s president.
“Groundspreading is a highly skilled and innovative profession that uses state of the art technology to ensure that
fertiliser is spread accurately and evenly. The new website and contemporary branding is very much about reflecting our
professionalism and affirming our role in helping our farmers and growers make informed best practice decisions around
fertiliser spreading.”

Note to editors:
The NZGFA is a national association representing fertiliser bulk spreading operators. It established the Spreadmark
fertiliser placement quality assurance programme in 1994. The Spreadmark scheme is now governed by the Fertiliser
Quality Council (FQC) and operates closely with its sister scheme, Fertmark.
