Getting ready for Christmas with New Zealand Post
New Zealand Post has released its sending and delivery dates to help people plan for Christmas. International and domestic sending dates for letters and parcels, including YouShop parcels, are on the New Zealand Post website and are available in PostShop stores.
New Zealand Post’s Chief Operating Officer, Mark Stewart says we know how important Christmas is for people, so that’s why we are recommending that customers do a quick check of the mailing deadlines and delivery targets now.
“We are expecting this Christmas to be our busiest ever, with millions of mail items and parcels passing through our network in December. Our plans are ready to ensure that we pull out all the stops right up until the last delivery day before Christmas”.
To manage the expected volumes NZ Post is doing a range of things including taking on additional staff, mobilising extra vehicles and adding an aircraft to our fleet.
Christmas 2017 sending and delivery dates
People wanting to send cards and parcels overseas in time for Christmas by International Air will need to post them by 6 December for Australia, 1 December for the South Pacific, Asia, North America, UK and Europe, and 29 November for the rest of the world. There are later deadlines for International Courier and International Express Courier services in early December. NZ Post is encouraging people to send overseas gifts early by offering a 10% early bird discount on International Air postage where the postage is paid online at nzpost.co.nz by 12 November.
The deadline for sending mail and parcels within New Zealand by Standard Post, ParcelPost and ParcelPost Tracked is 19 December. FastPost, Courier Parcel and Courier & Signature Parcel products need to be sent by 20 December.
Online shoppers buying gifts from overseas through YouShop should pay for shipping by 3 December for the Standard service from the US and UK, and by 26 November for the US Economy service to ensure items arrive in time for Christmas.
Over the Christmas and New Year period because of the statutory holidays there will be deliveries on Saturday 23 December and Saturday 30 December, but posties and couriers will not be delivering mail or parcels on Christmas Day (Monday 25 December) and Boxing Day (Tuesday 26 December), or on New Year’s Day (Monday 1 January) and Tuesday 2 January.
