Excitement in store for Queensgate shoppers as H&M prepares to open its first Wellington store
WELLINGTON, 25 October, 2017 – H&M, one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, will open its first Wellington store in Queensgate Shopping Centre at 10am on Thursday, 26 October.
Spread over two levels in Queensgate’s Centre Court, H&M will occupy approximately 2,700m2 of floor space for women’s, men’s and children’s fashion, as well as homeware.
H&M is one of many leading retailers to join the Centre in 2017. Stride Investment Management Limited, managers of Queensgate Shopping Centre, recently announced the full calendar of new store openings, including Mecca Maxima, Seed Heritage, Macpac, Skechers, Fisherman’s Plate, Merchant, Decjuba and Amazon. These follow recent additions Boost Juice, Portmans, Bed Bath N Table, Hannahs, and Bed Bath and Beyond Homestore.
Stride’s General Manager for Shopping Centres, Roy Stansfield, says: “We’re looking forward to the much-anticipated arrival of international brand H&M. These new stores joining the Centre in the coming months promise an exciting shopping experience for Queensgate customers in the lead-up to Christmas.”
Mr Stansfield today noted that, while it is hard to know exactly how many people will attend H&M’s opening, the Centre team is preparing for an influx of shoppers keen to be among the first in Wellington to experience the brand-new store.
“We do expect that over the coming days, and possibly weeks, there may be an increased number of shoppers at Queensgate, which is excellent for retailers and for the Lower Hutt region.
“We have been working closely with the Hutt City Council to minimise congestion. To assist customers, our car park crew will direct traffic within the car park, and our Facebook page will provide updates on Centre parking throughout the weekend,” says Mr Stansfield.
