Pipeline repair: status update

The replacement section of pipe has been welded into place and both ends passed the final weld inspection by pipeline certifier Lloyds, late last night. This is a significant milestone.

We are now preparing to restart the pipeline and remain on track to deliver jet fuel into Wiri between mid-day Sunday the 24th and mid-day Tuesday the 26th. Settling, recertification and transport to the airport for use will take another 30 hours.

Alternative supply
The ‘bridging’ of jet fuel from the refinery is continuing with further road tankers loading today.

Coastal shipping – m.v. Matuku
The fuel ship m.v. Matuku departed for Auckland at 5am this morning carrying approximately 3.5 million litres (approx.120 road tankers) of jet fuel, as well as diesel, petrol and fuel oil.
