Presents ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ in Lead up to 2018 Justice Conference
In the lead up to the highly anticipated 2018 Justice Conference, this November Tearfund will present Love Thy Neighbour. This Justice Conference event will feature inspiring, home-grown speakers exploring what it really means to love thy
neighbour in today’s context.
Join with Chris Farrelly (Auckland City Mission CEO), Hannah Chapman (The Parenting Place National Manager) and Rev. Frank Ritchie (Tearfund) on November 1 in Auckland, as they unpack how to care for people in
our communities.
Auckland City Mission chief executive, Chris Farrelly, will lead a discussion on homelessness and urban poverty. As
former chief executive of Manaia Health, Chris oversaw programmes addressing poverty, substandard housing and
unemployment. He also spent 10 years working with the urban poor in South Korea. Chris will impart his wealth of
experience and knowledge, and his passion for seeing families released from poverty.
The second keynote speaker, The Parenting Place’s Hannah Chapman, will discuss the importance of loving your neighbour
and knowing their story. Inspired by the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous Peoples, a movement she was raised in,
Hannah is a co-founder of iEmergence International (which operates in Canada and the Philippines) and Good Water–a
gathering that nurtures a global Christian indigenous community of faith. Hannah is Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Whakatöhea and
Irish.
Rev. Frank Ritchie will speak on the issue of understanding justice as Christians. Rev. Ritchie has worked with Tearfund
for the past eight years and is keenly interested in how Christians understand biblical justice. He will focus on the
role that Christians can play in the world and motivate them to explore the practical outworkings of a justice-oriented
conviction.
Love Thy Neighbour: A Justice Conference event takes place on Wednesday, November 1 at 6:45pm at Crave Café in Kingsland, Auckland.
