Last chance to have your say on New Zealander of the Year
With the polls open for early voting, Kiwibank is urging New Zealanders to also cast a vote for their fellow Kiwis in the 2018 New Zealander of the Year Awards.
Nominations for New Zealand’s most prestigious Awards close on 18 September. Now in its ninth year, the New Zealander of the Year Awards celebrate and honour achievement in six different categories, including the coveted title of Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year.
Kiwibank chief executive Paul Brock said the Awards were the ultimate recognition for New Zealanders making our country a better place to live.
“This month we decide who will lead New Zealand for the next three years. But before that, it’s the final chance for us to make another very important choice – to nominate those special Kiwis who have stood out for their exceptional achievements in the past year and contributed to making New Zealand a better place for everyone.
“The Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Award is our opportunity to celebrate our fellow special New Zealanders and to thank them for their hard work, commitment and sacrifice on behalf of us all”.
The 2018 Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year will be announced at the New Zealander of the Year Awards Gala in Auckland on 22 February 2018.
Previous winners of the New Zealander of the Year Award are: Taika Waititi (2017), Richie McCaw (2016), Sir Stephen Tindall (2015), Dr Lance O’Sullivan (2014), Dame Anne Salmond (2013), Sir Richard Taylor (2012), Sir Paul Callaghan (2011) and Sir Ray Avery (2010).
