Destination Queenstown Organisation Changes
Queenstown, New Zealand (04 August, 2017) Queenstown’s Regional Tourism Organisation, Destination Queenstown (DQ), has recently undertaken a thorough review of its organisational structure to account for current and future demands and opportunities. Remaining nimble and adaptable has been an important principle of the organisation for many years and evolutionary change has been regular.
As Queenstown’s visitor markets and industry channels evolve, maintaining a suitably resourced organisation which is responsible for marketing New Zealand’s premier visitor destination and representing a large and diverse membership, is vitally important.
Finalised this week, a revised structure establishes a second Director role to sit alongside currentMarketing and Communications Director, Sarah O’Donnell. Sarah’s team is unchanged and has responsibility for DQ’s consumer marketing, communications, media, PR, social media and campaign partnership activity.
The newly established position of Business Development Director will oversee all channel sales and trade marketing activity including domestic and international travel trade, industry partnerships, business events (C&I) and Study. This position will also become the Director of the Queenstown Convention Bureau (QCB).
This team is currently made up of two international market managers, a QCB business development manager based in Melbourne, a QCB Marketing Executive and a Study Queenstown Business Development Manager. A new position of QCB Sales and Marketing manager has been created to focus on New Zealand domestic and targeted long haul business event opportunities. This overall business development structure adds resources and senior capability to the B2B channel teams.

announce two immediate appointments related to these
changes:
• Louise Clark is appointed
to the new position of Queenstown Convention
BureauSales and Marketing Manager. This is
effective from the 4th September 2017 when Louise returns
from maternity leave. Louise joined DQ in 2011 as QCB
Marketing Executive and was promoted to International
Markets Manager – Western in March
2014.
• Sarah Norton is appointed
permanently to the Market Manager –
Western position which she has held during
Louise’s leave over the last 12 months. This is effective
from the 7th August.
Recruitment for the Business
Development Director will commence immediately.
The Marketing and Communications Director and Business Development Director both report to Destination Queenstown Chief Executive Graham Budd.
