Fiordland Outdoors Company named as finalists in the Innovation Category for Nurture Change Scholarship
From the get-go, the Fiordland Outdoors Company has embraced innovation. By identifying gaps in Fiordland’s current tourism offering, the Fiordland Outdoors team has build a business crafting outdoor experiences visitors will never forget.
This commitment to innovation was recognized yesterday when the company was named as top-3 finalists in the Nurture Change Awards’ Innovation Category. Nurture Change is a yearly business retreat where kiwi businesspeople come together to learn from each other, swap ideas and create clear strategies.
Director Mark Wallace says it feels “absolutely incredible” to be named as finalists - “We never imagined to make the top 3, let alone be placed in the innovation category. It has made us start to think differently about ourselves, and we know our team are really proud as well.”
Judges of the Nurture Change scholarships commented on the ‘huge passion’ in the hundreds of entries they reviewed, saying it was a ‘real challenge’ to choose the finalists.
From the beginning, the Fiordland Outdoors Company has been committed to crafting products that didn’t yet exist or could be done better. The team is passionate about offering varied experiences for visitors to Fiordland; they believe this is one of the main things needed for the region to attract more visitors and for them to stay longer.
The company’s offering has grown steadily and now encompasses their fishing and Jet-boating ‘have a go’ experience, expertly guided fly fishing, walking and hiking packages and various transport services.
The team is well known in the industry for their focus on hosting. Going over and above to take care of clients in order for them to have an experience they’ll always remember is core to the Fiordland Outdoors ethos.
If successful, Mark will attend Nurture Change in November – something he says would be incredibly exciting for the business moving forward.
“We would love the opportunity to have access to the quality of talent, clever minds and passion of others attending. It would be a real investment in the future of our company”.
