Mediaworks Radio Remains Number One Commercial Radio Network

Mediaworks Radio Remains the Number One Commercial Radio Network in New Zealand with Reach Continuing to Grow
GfK Total New Zealand Commercial Radio Survey results show that MediaWorks Radio has increased its popularity among New Zealanders now reaching 2,274,600 listeners every week across its nine radio brands.
For the first time, The Breeze is New Zealand’s number one music station with 8.2*** percent of commercial share - joining The Edge, The Rock and More FM to take out four of the top five music radio stations in the country.
In the key 25-54 commercial demographic, MediaWorks continues to lead with 55.2^ percent of commercial share, beating its nearest competitor by 22 percentage points. MediaWorks also boasts the top four stations nationwide in this demographic: The Rock, The Edge, More FM and The Breeze^.
MediaWorks also retains its title of market leader in the critical 6-9am timeslot with Breakfast results showing 1,514,300* listeners nationwide which equates to over 60% of total commercial listeners.
In national reach, The Edge retains its title as New Zealand’s most popular station with 647,200 listeners. The Breeze has moved into second place nationally with an audience of 521,600 - an increase of 15,500 from May 2017. More FM rounds out the top three with an audience of 513,800.
MediaWorks stations also lay claim to over half of the total listening audience - 12.3 percentage points ahead of its closest competitor***.
Celebrating its 25th year, Mai FM has increased its national reach to over 400,000 listeners and retains its spot as Auckland’s most popular music station^^ with the region's leading music Breakfast + , Drive ++ and Night shows +++.
In Wellington, MediaWorks' overall market share was recorded as the biggest it has ever been #. In addition, The Breeze has the largest station share growing to 13.9 percentage points and Breakfast with Steve & Kath remains the number one music show in the region**.
Simon & Gary continue to dominate the share in Christchurch with 19 percent of the 10+ audience in Breakfast radio~. MediaWorks also has the top five music stations in the area with More FM, The Breeze, The Sound, The Rock and The Edge~~.
The launch of Rova in January 2017 is contributing to the success of MediaWorks Radio, showing impressive results with 160,000 app downloads to date, 145,000 registered app users and close to 800,000 streams in June from web and app.
The exclusive Rova All Day Breakfast with Polly & Grant is off to a great start, already the most popular show on Rova. Listeners are loving that the show is live from 6 - 9am weekdays and is then available for the rest of the day, so they can listen anytime, anywhere.
