New purpose built Dunedin harbour premises for Steel & Tube
Steel & Tube has unveiled its new warehousing, office and trade shop space to customers and shareholders at an official opening
by Minister and Dunedin MP Michael Woodhouse.
Mr Woodhouse, along with Dunedin Deputy-Mayor Chris Stayne joined Steel & Tube CEO Dave Taylor and the board of directors to tour the new distribution and processing site.
This build’s completion marks another key milestone in Steel & Tube’s multi-million dollar re-investment programme and follows on from several notable milestones and not least, the
former Prime Minister John’s Key’s official opening of our flagship megastore at Savill Drive, Auckland in August 2015.
It is further tangible evidence of the realisation of our strategy to grow and position Steel & Tube as a viable, sustainable business for the future; one that is fully able to support NZ’s infrastructure
development and resilient manufacturing sector, to name but two key markets for Steel & Tube.
The Dunedin project has allowed Steel & Tube to consolidate several sites and operations into one facility with a clear focus on providing an operational
environment with emphasis on customer service, efficiency, and of course Health and Safety.
The new space is larger than the previous Dunedin sites and plans are afoot to expand the workforce, providing more job
opportunities for Dunedin in line with the city’s economic development strategy to increase skills, incomes and job
opportunities in the city.
The new build follows on from a busy cycle of new facilities and upgrades over the past few years, but the work has not
stopped.
In Christchurch, Steel & Tube is consolidating multiple businesses into two larger facilities, creating centralised distribution and processing
hubs for Canterbury. Work at both facilities is expected to be completed late in 2017 and early 2018 respectively.
